Growing Servingness & Belongingness: Planting Seeds for an OER Initiative

OER is an essential nutrient for student growth and student success; however, growing a thriving OER garden can be challenging. This interactive presentation discusses the soil, seeds, growth, and harvest of developing OER at a private Hispanic Serving Institution (HSI). Rooted in the concepts of belongingness and servingness, the presenters will detail our experience planting the seeds of an OER initiative, the weeds we have encountered along the way, and what we hope our campus community will harvest from our efforts. Participants will learn about the economic, equity, and community benefits of establishing OER and leave with ideas about how to grow OER at their institution.
