How to Search for Open Educational Resources
Searching for Open Educational Resources (which are free and openly licensed, allowing them to be freely distributed at a minimum and possibly also tailored and edited) is a valuable skill at all types of libraries. Academic librarians may have liaisees who need course materials; school librarians may have teachers and students who need free educational materials; public librarians may have patrons who are interested in self-guided education. However, there are so many repositories and referratories that searching can quickly become overwhelming. This session will highlight some of the most useful and popular platforms for open textbooks, open courseware, and other open and zero-cost content and give participants hand-on experience searching for resources. If we have time, we can also go over some next steps, such as how to evaluate, adopt, and adapt OERs.
