New Ideas in Asynchronous Learning: Scalar
Libraries have been seekers and innovators of new technologies. They digitally support their communities with electronic resources and online services such as virtual reference and instruction via telecommunication applications. The global pandemic reopened conversations about online instruction, especially asynchronous learning. But in the post Covid-19 environment, funding can be a challenge and there are librarians that are new to online teaching, who need user friendly devices to assist them with this renewed information literacy emphasis. A feasible solution could be to increase and improve active learning by using existing lesser-known software and platforms to design learning modules. This presentation will talk about the presenter's experience and results using Scalar (a free and open-source publishing platform that facilitates the creation of multimedia digital scholarship) to construct a learning module for an advanced seminar course.
