Cultivating AI: Growing Possibilities for Libraries

Artificial intelligence offers exciting possibilities but also poses challenges for libraries. This interactive workshop will provide strategies for public librarians to evaluate and implement AI ethically. We'll review AI technologies and their current uses in libraries through brief presentations and real-world examples. In small group virtual breakout discussions, we'll analyze sample AI applications and collaboratively develop policies to address risks. Attendees will leave equipped with a framework to assess AI projects at their own institutions and practical tips to grow AI in keeping with community needs. By cultivating AI thoughtfully, we can maximize the benefits while minimizing harm.
